Parent Julie Kurszewski of Cape Coral and her daughter Layla

Back in November of 2012, we told you a little bit about a Cape Coral mom named Julie Kurszewski and how she was facing 16 surgeries due to juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis and had no one to care for 18-month-old daughter Layla.

You may recall that she was able to start on her many surgeries, knowing that her daughter would be cared for during her recovery because of a scholarship offered by Child Care of Southwest Florida at the Joseph H. Messina Children’s Center.

But there’s a little bit more to the story that you may not know.

Julie called 30 other child care centers in Southwest Florida

…and yet none of them could offer her a scholarship because she wasn’t working and was on social security disability. Then she called the Joseph H. Messina Center and not only was she awarded a scholarship for Layla, but Messina employees volunteered to help her move into her Habitat for Humanity home!

After having a hip and two knees replaced, she remarried and moved into her new home.

“Without your donations (whoever you are, THANKS!!!) and the help of the Messina Children’s Center, I don’t know where I would be right now. I will highly recommend this center to anyone. They are like family!”

As stories like this happen in the future, we’ll do our best to share them with you as quickly as possible because we want you to know that you truly are making HUGE differences in people’s lives and we are so very grateful!

Playground at P.A. Geraci CenterWe are a non-profit organization and all of your donations are tax deductible and greatly appreciated. Even a donation of $50 will pay for one day of child care. $150 will cover the cost of a week’s care for a child.

Thank you so much to all of our donors as well as those in our Legacy Charity Donation Program. Without your generosity we couldn’t have built a new playground for our students at the P.A. Geraci Center and we couldn’t have made such an enormous impact on the life of the Kurszewski family.
